Mutual Exchanges

Welcome to the mutual exchange section. House Exchange is a free service for tenants to try to find mutual exchanges between registered users of the system.

This is a FREE service for existing local authority and housing association tenants where their Landlord belongs to House Exchange. Users can search the database to find properties that match their requirements, either on their home computer, a family member or friend's computer or any public access computer such as in your local library.

Use the link below to see if your Landlord is a partner of House Exchange.

When you have found someone you would like to swap homes with you need to contact your landlord to ask for permission for the exchange to go ahead.
Permission might not be given:

" if you, or either of the tenants, has a Notice Seeking Possession and/or a court order against them - for example for arrears or anti-social behaviour
" if the exchange would mean that one or both homes would be either overcrowded or under occupied.

Sometimes there may be conditions to be fulfilled before permission is granted - for example, clearing any rent arrears or putting right any damage to the property.  Your home will be inspected by before any exchange and arrangements are made to test the electricity supply and fittings to ensure they are safe
